Not so far fetched. Growing on the end of the Vietnam War. Programming detached killers.
How many times did the man watch this film? Is he a loner? Does he distance himself from family friends and relationships? Does he have a conscience?

The methods they found during MK Ultra for depatterning and programming were focused on drugs and altered reality.
So what do we have today?
Kids on stimulants and SSRIs.
Isolation in real life.
Fantasy in media along with desensitization to violence.
Convenient access to weapons.
What do we get?
Mass shootings. (all the shooters are on meds)
What do we know about our overlords?
They want as much control with as little effort as possible.
What would they like to do away with?
Gun rights.
Can they just take away guns by force?
No, the people have to willingly give them up.
How would people willingly give them up?
If they thought there was a problem and the only solution was to give up their gun rights.
What else could they do to help that along?
Slowly dumb down the population and make them weaker by constant exposure to toxins.
What would a side benefit be?
Healthcare will be very costly and hard to stop once started down that road.
