So if I have this right in the plot, the mafia manipulated Sonny to leave the house so they could shoot him, so his sister being beaten by her husband was intentionally staged, in order to bait him to leave.
But when the husband beat up the sister, it was the result of the sister finding out her husband was cheating on her by answering a phone call from the other woman, and she confronted him over it.
But since the beating was staged in order to beat Sonny, why didn't the mafia just tell the husband to beat her for the sake of it? Why was it necessary to make the wife think she was cheating, by staging a phony phone call about it, in order to get her to react to him first?
If they wanted to bait Sonny, they didn't need to give the husband an actual reason to beat the wife, in order to bait him. They could have just told the husband to beat her up and that would have been enough to get Sonny to leave, and didn't need the extra cheating story on top of it. Unless I am wrong?
