Intrada has just released John Barry's gorgeous Oscar nominated score on cd. It is a limited addition of 3,000 copies. It will surely sell out quickly. It duplicates the LP tracks. Go to:

John Barry's overture for Mary Queen of Scots was very catchy.

I've always loved that music - very regal yet very catchy. Wonderful stuff!

I have an LP from years ago. I was lucky to find a record player when my old one died. It's all CD players these days.

Thats where I first heard the score - on the old LP. when I purchased (via mail auction) what I consider Barry's historical tryptic - "The Lion In Winter". "Mary, Queen of Scots" and "The Last Valley". Perfect scores from an undisputed master.

Great score. Perhaps one of his most neglected.
