I don't think that Klute would have been the same had some hunky, better looking actor took the lead. I wonder if anyone was considered for the role beside him. Who would be better? He's quiet, not really good looking, but his presence and his gentleness make him genuinely sexyif not a little wierd.

What did you think of the movie on the larger scale? I really wanted to call this one of my favorites cause I love Jane, but over all after seeing it four times I think it's kind of a lousy story and they could have made it more interesting. It took me two showings to figure out what the hell was going on. Have you ever seen the Rosary Murders, cookie? Much better than Klute I think. Gimme a hollabck.
Where them bagels at, doe?

An interesting factthe role of Bree Daniels was originally supposed to go to Barbra Streisand who turned it down. How funny that over sixteen years later she would play a call girl accused of murder in NutsClaudia Draper, a role in which she stole out from under Debra Winger's nose. Overall, I think Nuts is a much better movie. At the time, I don't think Barbra could have pulled off Bree Daniels as well as Jane. Barbra wasn't ballsy yetshe was doin' star is born and on a clear day. I don't think she was ready for the ballsiness of the bree character.
Don't cross-examine me in the rain. I'll be there. Wet. But I'll be there. -

i was just saying on another thread how i thought his eyes and lips added to the "strange vibe" of the whole movie. but i'm one of those who finds Sutherland "drop dead gorgeous" (damm!t americans, i love this expression of yours! lol we kinda have the same in french but it really doesn't sound as good! :))
anyway, i don't know if anyone had been considered for the part beside him, but he was perfect indeed.
Lem! Lem, I'm sorry! But I had to, right?! -

Donald Sutherland brought an innate kindness and gentleness to the character of Klute that is quite attractive and appealing. Plus he's a pretty good-looking guy.
You've seen Guy Standeven in something because the man was in everything.
