Should have been nominated for best supporting actor and probably won it, too. One of the most thoroughly believable, complex portrayals of a man completely lost his mental and moral bearings and yet able to intelligently articulate his sickness in a way that totally makes sense and feels authentic, looking at it in such a twisted way. In his final scene with Fonda, Cioffi is chillingly fantastic. "There are little corners in everyone which are better left alone" Indeed.

Well said! I agreeCharles Cioffi gives a brilliant performance, definitely overlooked at Oscar time. It'll be on TCM again tonight and I'm looking forward to that chilling last scene of his.
      And where's the Blu-Ray?!

Charles Cioffi was superbly chilling as the deranged, yet pragmatic psycho stalker.
You've seen Guy Standeven in something because the man was in everything.
