Shortly after the beginning of the film, there is an extended scene where King Charles and his family are sitting down to dinner, in front of an elaborately laid table.
I am curious as to what dishes and foods might have been served at a royal dinner in the early 1600's. I've tried to catch a glimpse of some of the things that were laid out but cannot see them clearly.
I also noticed the King eating with his fingersdidn't they use forks back then?
He also appears to dip his fingers into a bowl while eating.
Any culinary historians out there care to comment? It's historical trivia like this that makes these kinds of movies interesting.
