There was always a little "something" between them it seemed.Nanny knew how to take care of the Professor and his family.It was too bad the show was just kinda pulled off the air in mid season and maybe the ratings fell because they used to prempt the show for monday night football.I could have seen this show running for 5 or 6 years easy.

You have to remember that the show was filmed in the early '70s. Hollywood's bigwigs hadn't yet declared all out war on normal ordinary Americans by pushing the leftist agenda of things like free love outside of marriage, trying to make homosexuality seem normal or showing admiration for anything wrong while condemning everything right like they have in recent decades. However, I think if the series had lasted longer Professor Everett and Nanny might have become romantically involved.

She wasnt that interested in him,he might have been.If the series lasted it would have happened.They had a certain flirt about them from what i remembered.She was good with the kids/pets and done everything better than the other nannies.So,it was in the works for the next season or 2 possibly.

I always thought the same thing about their chemistry. By the way, to the earlier poster, sex isn't dead when you get married.
I think that cosidering the way things were when the Nanny aired, and the Nanny's apparent "innocence" and reserved way of presenting herself, she could have been romantically, although not sexually, involved with the Professor, until after they got married. -

I'm sure it was heading in that direction, as the Nanny would most likely keep the riff-raff of women away from the Professor. Show was on for almost a full 3 seasons, but was cut short. Then a cartoon came out after that. The show should have done 5 seasons and ended with them getting married at the end.

I remember the episode where Nanny was suppose to marry another man. She appeared in her wedding dress, just to show the family, and Prof. Everett really did seem a little stunned by how pretty she was.
There was definitely something there.

All too often, television writers who can write romantic situations with an undercurrent of sexual chemistry do badly with plots after marriage, so much so that a wedding often dooms a series. A famous bad example was Rhoda. The writers needed marital troubles for an interesting plot. That's why they usually saved weddings for the last season or even the last episode of a successful series. Another well-known show killer was introducing a baby or two. The Nanny named Fran went for all of it in her last season.
And here we thought Richard was FINALLY going to have a wife, after years on Big Valley where nobody got to keep a spouse. Sigh. You have to wonder how people in the Old West managed to reproduce. It was especially rough on the women, who kept getting killed off. Most were lucky if they lived long enough to meet the family. Some struggled to make it past the opening credits. Flee! Flee! Save yourself!
