I completely agree. I'm DVRng it from GET-TV along with the Ghost and Mrs. Muir. It makes me very sad now, yet brings happy memories, as an adult, to watch this. Bittersweet is more like it, I guess.
I was 8 when the show started and loved it. It was a much more innocent timeshows like this, the Partridge Family, Brady Bunch. The song tugs at my heartstrings too, as one of the Adrissi Brothers , who sang and wrote it, passed away young. And as you mentioned, Richard Long's early passing, Trent Lehman's suicide, Kim Richards soap opera of a life now. -

Bittersweet is a good word. i don't know why I feel so melancholy when I see "Nanny" now. I probably wouldn't feel the same way watching "The Brady Bunch" or "The Partridge Family". Of course, none of those kids committed suicide.

Other than a few short clips on You-Tube, I haven't seen any complete episodes of NATP since it originally aired (when I was a toddler). So, I can't comment on how the show makes me feel currently. I do feel melancholy when I watch "Family Affair" and "The Courtship of Eddie's Father." This is due to the fact the two protagonists were lonely and actors from both sitcoms died tragically. The claustrophobic sets don't help.

Trent Lehman dead, Richard Long dead,
Kim Richards related to Paris Hilton
I’m sure it also makes Kim Richards sad, and she probably wishes that she were dead too
