An Atlantic article from 2013 concludes with the following:
Part science fiction, part thriller, part horror, part film noir, part black comedy (watch for the crispy chicken scene), Seconds is a period piece that is more contemporary than ever.
I did see this movie, and thought it was really good, but it has been a few years and I don't remember what this refers to.

When Arthur Hamilton first arrives at the Company and is being interviewed by Mr. Ruby, a chicken dinner is brought to Arthur. Arthur isn't interested in the dinner, so Ruby eats it, commenting on the delicious crust.
The "black comedy" is Ruby's obvious enjoyment of the dinner while he's telling Arthur about his different options for "dying".
