I have read several times that Douglas Sirk directed some scenes in Madame X. Anyone knows which?
A lot of the movie has the same feel as the most garish Sirks, but it's obviously the work of the Ross Hunter team.
If I had to guess, I would say the scene when Lana comes back to the mansion and finds Connie toying with the turquoise scarf. There's a certain visual tension there that is missing elsewhere.
Or maybe the scene when some John rifles through a passed-out Lana's purse. Lana has passed-out in a puddle of ugly red light. That's almost a parody of a Sirk scene
