It's called breaching. Sailors are taught what to do in an emergency so that they don't die. You can Google it, and you can find videos on YouTube.
I've been in a "dive-and-drive" Trident sub trainer and got to experience what it feels like to be at the angle for breaching, but they didn't crash it down. -

And that shovel-head bow would have a lot of impact force to it; much more than a conventional sub. This probably explains why the Flying Sub crashed about 50% of the times it was deployed - as I recall, it was berthed directly under the bow, which means it got hammered every time the sub breached.
