Have I got a surprise for you!
Did you know there were actual lyrics to this show theme?
Found at Blackcatter's World of TV Theme Song Lyrics: http://www.cfhf.net/lyrics/alpha.htm
At this site, you'll also find the never aired lyrics to the instrumental theme songs forSTAR TREKHOGAN'S HEROESBONANZAmany others.
THE MUNSTERS
Lyrics never aired (The lyrics can be found on the 1964 album At Home With The Munsters)
When you are walking down the street at night
And behind you there's no one in view.
But you hear mysterious feet at night,
Then the Munsters are following you.
If you should meet this strange family
Just forget what some people have said,
The Munsters may shake your hand clammily
But they're not necessarily dead.
Behind their house you mustn't be afraid
To see a figure digging with a spade.
Perhaps someone didn't quite make the grade
With the Munsters, with the Munsters.
If when you're sleeping you dream a lot,
Ghoulish nightmares parade through your head,
And then you wake up and scream a lot,
Oh the Munsters are under your bed.
At midnight if creatures should prowl about,
And if vampires and vultures swoop down.
And werewolves and fiends shriek and howl about,
Oh the Munsters are out on the town.
One night I dared peak through their window screen,
My hair turned white at such a crazy scene.
Because every evening its Halloween
At the Munsters, at the Munsters. -

I can't imagine they ever seriously considering using these lyrics for the tv show as it is totally out of sync with the characters and the show. It sounds more like these lyrics were composed by someone especially for this record album, which I believe was a low-price children's record.

I like the lyrics, it even sounds like the music was made to fit the lyrics. That being said, the instrumental theme kicks ass and probably surpassed the lyrics. Munsters theme music kicks ass,

There is a good version with the lyrics on The Ultimate Kids Halloween Party. It's an adult singing, not a Kidz Zone version, but I did hear one with kids that sounded cute, too. Both were on iTunes. Ours has the instrumental first then the lyrics. It's not from the Munsters album. I can't find that anywhere online. If someone does please let me know.
