Where this movie was filmed? I've tried Googling it and going through IMDB, but can't find anything. I know most of it is supposed to be in Maine, but was it really filmed there? I just love that townwonder if it still looks that way. And the "big yellow house"where's that at? Any help would be apprectiated!

Hayley Mills left England in late July 1962 to shoot Summer Magic in August. I just found out an interview of Burl Ives & Hayley Mills made on the set of the movie and published in The Deseret News of August 27, 1962. Obviously, the film was shot at Disney Studios, Burbank, California.

In the Spring 2010 issue of D23 magazine, it has a lengthy article on the back lot at Disney Studios, which has a picture showing the yard and barn (showing the big yellow house to be merely a facade). The article also mentions that "Summer Magic, starring Disney Legend Hayley Mills, used the east portion of Western Street, adding the four-sided facade of a church on the street's north end. This church was later altered for Pete's Dragon to serve as a schoolhouse for the town of Passamaquoddy."

The outdoor scenes of Summer Magic may have been filmed in part on Disney's Golden Oak Ranch. This was land purchased by Walt Disney in 1959 to be utilized as a shooting location for both his film & television projects. It is located in Newhall,CA which is about an hour north of L.A.It is 691 acres.Disney's Toby Tyler was filmed there,as was The Apple Dumpling movies & the Swamp Fox.Non-Disney films as well as tv shows have also shot there such as the mini-series Roots 2,for which a town was constructed.Other tv shows filming there have been Daniel Boone,Bonanza,Murder She Wrote,& countless others.
