In movies it seems to be a tabboo to have kids being killed. Even in horror movies kids are always safe. But if you think about it. They are the weakest and with the least chance of survivial

I presume it's because if a kid dies in a film, fewer parents will take the whole family to see it.
Seventy-seven courses and a regicide, never a wedding like it!

        In the film
        Sabotage
        ,
Hitchcock had one of the characters, a young boy, (along with a dog) killed by a bomb.
The movie was not very successful, and Hitchcock stated in an interview that he felt that that particular scene played a major factor in the film's failure, so it's not something he ever wanted to do again.
I'm not crying, you fool, I'm laughing!
