The King Family
The replacement happened because the King Family appeared on an episode of The Hollywood Palace and the network received tens of thousands of fan letters. So the brass gave them a 60-min special and it garnered a ton of fan mail as well. The result being they booted TOL and replaced it with TKF variety show.
I'm not ragging the King Family, but in terms of impact, longevity, and pop cultureThe Outer Limits is still being watched and analyzed today.
All one has to do is take a look at The King Family message boards and compare with the boards here for TOL. -

All-American singing family. Middle of the road music. Nothing like Rock and Roll, nearer to Lawerece Welk than Rock stylistically, much less Folk, Acid or any other kind. Nothing even Rock-ish about the King people.

I'd completely forgotten the King Family ever existed until I read your post.
There are 8.2 billion people in the world. 8.19 billion of them have never heard of and don't give a fuck about Charlie Kirk. Get over it. -

The King Family were one of those cloyingly wholesome family singing acts that were popular for a minute or two back in the 1960s. I was just a kid, but as I recall, the show didn't last very long.
There are 8.2 billion people in the world. 8.19 billion of them have never heard of and don't give a fuck about Charlie Kirk. Get over it.
