    Mrs. Iselin's first name is NOT mentioned in the novel and was never mentioned in this version of the film.
    Why has IMDB let someone change the character name to add the name "Eleanor" which was invented for the remake?

      Mrs. Iselin's first name WAS most definitely mentioned in Richard Condon's novel, and I quote:
      The unquestionable fact was that Eleanor Shaws marriage to John Iselin was a scandal and the questions that aroused curiosity must have been an insufferable torment in the mind of young Raymond as his awakening consciousness absorbed the details which kept filtering fresh drops of bitterness into his memory.
