Sure, she spoke English and could be social. But otherwise, she was mysterious. It felt like she was stranded for years on the island.
She collected the shells as if it were a currency and her gaze was both civilized and primitive as if she was about to transform into a savage. But her planned revenge on Dr. No kept her vigor and civilized. Even the way she talks with others was like she had not spoken with people for a long time. -

In the book, i think she is the daughter of a scientist or something like that, who had died, and she was left in the care of her old black nanny. her nanny used to make her read a page of the encyclopedia every day, to give her an education. I suppose her accent would be a combination of what she grew up with, her father and her nanny's. also, in the book she has a broken nose from fighting off a man who tried to rape her.
