What a racist movie

Why do you care so much? You should understand that 1. This was the early 60s so this kind of ignorance was everywhere. Yes it's dumb but that's how things were back then. 2. Dr. No was half-Chinese and half-German in the novel. How many half-asians and half-white mixed actors were around back then? You look very young so how would you know?
And it's not like they had him doing stereotypical crap like Jerry Lewis did with the stupid over the top "japanese accent" or any other over the top stuff. He was just a white man with slightly asian-made eyes to fit the part. He only mentioned once that he was the "product of a union between a german man and a chinese woman" and that's it.
I was actually surprised at how little ignorance was shown regarding that in the movie, considering who Dr. No was and that it was the early 60s. You should really stop showing how racist you are by pulling that card out for such little reason. I'm asian btw and I see nothing wrong with the ethnic aspects of this film. It wasn't the best bond film but definitely it's earned its place among the annals of classic 60s films.
Lighten up and stop being the racist yourself. -

Another nutcase brainwashed by the vomit-inducing PC culture. An ignorant one, too.
Based on your comment, I'm guessing you and I would disagree on political issues and ideology. The term "PC" seems to mostly be used by conservatives as an insult. I think things that are done to be "PC" can SOMETIMES get a bit silly when taken too far. But, in general, I think there are lots of things that really ought to be changed because the historical/"traditional" way of talking about them, depicting them, and dealing with them DOES include aspects of prejudice and lack of sensitivity to others.
And I don't think there is really an adequate basis for your remark that the earlier poster was "ignorant".
And here's something else I think I learned from your post above. I've seen posts you have made on these message boards before. I know that, because I remember your signature line, with the Ronald Reagan quote. I always found your signature line rather clever and amusing, because I think that quote is a really stupid thing to say, and I thought you were pointing out how Ronald Reagan could say stupid and despicable things. Saying "facts are stupid things" is not only incorrect, but it's also probably a a rationalization that people like Reagan (and now Donald Trump) use to distract people away from researching an issue for relevant facts, and to make others just accept the lies that they are promulgating. … Now I think that possibly you think that Reagan was correct in dismissing the value of facts. … Pity. -

Aw, god! Remind me to not see that silly movie if they ever sink so low into Politically "Correct" murk to actually make that stupid goofy schlock-crap. The Ghostbusters remake ultra-flop would look as successful as
E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial
in comparison.
No, wait, nevermind: I'm sure I won't need to be reminded. Wow, Hollywood! How cheap can you be? No, no, don't answer that, Hollywood, no, really, no, don't bother. Wow! -

I thought you were going to mention the treatment of the Quarrel characterwhich was racist. And obviously so, making him role his eyes in fear while the 'laughing trumpet' plays on the sound track. Ignoring that but mentioning 'white people playing Asian characters' was ridiculous.

It wasn't so much racism as we understand it today. In the UK the Unions insisted that all parts in a film had to be first offered to British Actors and Actresses regardless of the characters ethnic background and god help any production that didn't. The producers would have to go to quite lengthy protests and demonstrate why a British actor couldn't be used.
This rule was dropped eventually but still existed on TV productions well into the 1980's. -

Bugger off.
It's barely even racist by today's standards, let alone those of the 19060s.
I see no problem with having a White man portray an Asian, any more than I'd feel offended at seeing an Asian man portray a White person. Provided they're not racially stereotyping (of which there is very little, and none by the "Asian" characters) I don't see why it's an issue.
I suppose you take offence at the fact that the 'Felix' character was changed in more recent films to be a Black man right? Or that every pretty much every Bond villain has been Asian or Russian for the last 50 years? Or that Bond (an English character) was played by a Scot for many years?
Plus as others point out, why would you mention the "Asian" characters, but not mention that Quarrel was more or less a minstrel-inspired simpleton, more akin to the "mammy" days than 1960s West Indies?
Please, take your offence somewhere else. We don't care if it offended you, and you being offended has no impact on anyone except your self.
(
I should also point out that 'Racism' as we see it is very much a Western term. Even civilised countries like Finland and Japan, with their 97% nationals view non-natives differently. If you want to experience true racism though, I suggest you visit parts of Africa (Zimbabwe for a start) or the Middle East. Not going to find a lot of sympathy towards those of a different race in those places.

Oh boo-hoo-hoo!
What the actual beep!? What the actual beep YOU! You call the movie
racist
because of Dr. No. What you're really saying is that interracial relationships are taboo, but their offspring are even moreso. Well that seems really, really racist on your behalf. YOU are racist. But the movie is awesome, way more awesome than you, you abhorrent and vacuous racist race-baiting Libtard!
Whatever! Gets your facts straight anyway, you silly broad!
