Did the stupidity of the police or their uselessness in the film bother anyone besides me? First, how do you identify a body that is missing a face without using another form of identification? They stated similar looking girls were disappearing. How could they be so sure it was his daughter?
That part I could at least ignore for the sake of the film. It was the end that really bothered me.
The police finally have a led in the case and practically blackmail that poor girl into helping them. They hear when she left, but she never reports in and is missing. They barely follow up on the fact she disappeared after leaving the hospital run by the suspect. They never bother to interview the secretary or investigate her at all. They dismiss the whole thing as if she just ran off. -

The stupidity of the police was so absurd I started laughing. As you say, they coerce the girl into being a decoy for them to get a lead on why girls like her go missing and then wonder why she didn't show up at home after she left the hospital they sent her to because they suspected the doctor and his assistant with the choker. So they ask the doctor about her, and he says she went home and so they shrug and go home.
