I have had many dreams about or inspired by this movie. I have had dreams where my face falls off. I have had some where I reconstruct another's face, some where I wear Christiane's creepy mask and others where she is stalking me, or sometimes dancing with me, or around me.
The eerie beauty of this movie has stuck in my subconscious and I've only watched it maybe 4 times total. Has anyone else been drawn back into Franju's dark yet beautiful movie in their slumber?
It's gross when he turns into the bug, but I love how matter of fact everything is.
Yeah, it's very Kafkaesque.
'Cause it's written by Franz Kafka.
Right. I mean, clearly. -

I absolutely love this film. The haunting eyes behind the shape-like mask is memorable. There are a number of truly haunting scenes in this extremely stylish, creepy little thriller.

I've haven't had that experience, but I can see how someone could. The movie's black and white tones do have a nightmarish quality. But it's the creepy mask that is the centerpiece of the horrific visuals in this movie, and could later visit a viewer's dreams.
