I didn't see Sean Connery, but after the third time seeing this one young man assisting others right near the end, on the ship, trying to stay on until the last minute, I said to myself, "I know that profile! That's Roger Moore!"
Just now, however, I looked him up and if that was him, he was uncredited. Did anyone else espy him or did I err in what I saw?

It's not him. The actor is John Merivale who bears an uncanny resemblance to an older Roger Moore.

So the young man mentioned by the OP resembles an older Moore? That's odd.
