    Hello fellow fans!
I have to say first that I recently saw the '85 remake of TLHS on tv, thought it was incredibly awful, and had to go rent the VHS version of the original to have the world make sense again. Thank goodness my tv still has a VHS player.
Anyway, the point of my post is that I absolutely adored Joanne Woodward's (Clara's) wardrobe in this movie. That beautiful little black dress in the dinner scene, and the lacey blue dress at the picnic! Ahh! Too pretty! Some of Lee's dresses were wonderful too. Would anyone know of any stills or photos of the dresses? If someone could point me to some sewing patterns that are similar that would be ideal. Any help at all would be appreciated!
    Thanks!
Paul Newman is gorgeous! Sorry, just had to tag that on there.

Her wardrobe? The woman was to die for. She demonstrated more sex appeal showing little of herself in this movie than most contemporary actress do in their entire careers. Drop dead gorgeous describes her in this movie.

Yes, she is quite attractive but in my opinion the woman who is drop dead gorgeous in this movie is Lee Remick! As it is said though "beauty is in the eye of the beholder!" You can behold Clara and I'll "be holdin' Eula!

I agree with the wardrobe comment totally. It looked simply divine on Joanne Woodward and Lee Remick. I did, however, wonder if it might have looked even better on Edmond O'Brien.

The costume design was done by Adele Palmer. You might look at some old Vogue Patterns as the styles were very Vogue. Who know Ms. Palmer may still be alive, you might try to contact her.

I totally agree. I thought she was absoutely adorable and I loved the end when she lets go and laughs. That was incredibly sweet! The black dress was my fav!
And, believe me, its ok-Paul Newman IS gorgeous! I swear, they really DON'T make them like they used to.although, if there are any, someone point them in my direction, ok? 😉

I have to wholeheartidly agree there though when you've got a woman as talented and gorgeous as Joanne was and remains any wardrobe will look good on them

thanks for agreeing with me my favorite outfits were the black gown from the dinner party scene the flowered sundress from the general store kissing scene and the pink & white capsleve dress though I don't think she wore the last one in the film by she did in one of the british promotional posters
here's the Poster I'm Refering To
                      http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j47/siunavez/Copyof453016_1010_A.jpg
don't her and Paul look absolutely fabulous in this poster and radiant as all get out that she was doing so well in the pregnancy with their first child at that point only to have the dream torn away on the honeymoon when she miscarried that precious baby
"why are you married to him then if you can't work with him how do you live with him?"

yeah I Think so as well but it doesn't take much to accentuate the features of someone like Joanne
