This is no Bridge over the River Kwai or 12 Angry Men but it definitely slips into the top ten of the year.
Great film, highly underrated with that 6.3 score.
I am considering a remake of this. Except I will turn the end into a zombie movie. Where Craft pushes the white pins in and the viewer will actually get satisfaction in seeing the dead actually rise from the grave and roam the world of the living.
I am thinking 140 minutes instead of the 75 minute original running time but much that was only (cleverly) hinted at will be fleshed out.
Did anyone actually get the urge to see what the movie would end up being like if Craft goes crazy and puts black pins into all the reserved graves to kill off the entire town? Or puts white pins over all of the graves and makes hundreds of zombies plague mankind?
And what if Craft is sent to prison, makes a paper with the names of the warden and all of the prison guards on it, smuggles a safety pin and rips off a bit of black cloth to tie to the top of the pin and then you see him struggle as he both wants to push it in and yet something inside him fights it at the same time. but he succeeds in pushing it in after one of the guards opens his cell. Everyone dies and he escapes. finis.
