What was the meaning of the line where Robt. Ryan says: Throw 6 women in the air and the one that sticks to the ceiling is the one I want?

Obviously, he doesn't want to commit to any of them.

That was Earl's way of saying no one woman was any different from or better than the rest. It didn't matter which woman a guy ended up with; whichever one was willing to stick around was the 'lucky' lady. Mae was willing to make a go of it with Jerry so she married him even though she didn't love him. Later, she was all set to run off with Earl even though she never liked him and found him crude and distasteful.
She was willing to stick around; that's all that mattered and it was good enough for him. As you'll recall he talked about his wife as being concerned with money and he never could trust what she was doing with other men. He was married to her but she wasn't one that stuck. In fact, she was always off on the road doing her own thing; not tending to his needs.
Woman, man! That's the way it should be Tarzan.
