While I would have gone with Miss Garson, I certainly was envious when he kissed each of them as he was being dropped off right before the tragedy.

Mrs Miniver
, considering they were meant to be Mother and Son. It did not surprise me once I found out they later married.

ha thats too funny, because whenever they first pick him up at the train and are on their way back notice her face as she looks at him while they're both in the back of the car. It's soooo obvious she wants to be in his pants and while i was watching i was like "wtf that's her son!" but then i had to remind myself that it was just a movie and they are just actors.

Personally I can't see what either woman (Greer Garson in real life, Teresa Wright in reel life) ever saw in Richard Ney/Vin Miniver. Not good-looking, and his character in the movie was an obnoxious sap, though I gather Ney himself wasn't a bad guy.
Also, the twelve-year age difference between Garson and Ney was pretty substantial in real lifethough not substantial enough for her to be his mother in the movie! Not surprising they were only married for four years (1943-1947).
