Did Judy Garland hate the munchkins?

Or it could be a cover up. And why in the **** would they have a crane on the set? Sorry, something doesn't add up.

Cover up makes sense. It's one of the reasons why they did the remastered with edited part, replacing what looks like a hanging corpse with the bird. I don't know why they didn't notice that in the first time. Are they planning to give children PTSD or something?

I dunno, I've googled around and there are conflicting accounts. I just don't believe this account is the last word on it.
They claim they had a crane on the set to give it a 'wild' feel. That doesn't make sense to me.

I don't know which version of this I have on VHS. I know it's not the first release but it's before they started remastering everything. I haven't seen it in several years and I don't necessarily remember it as a body. There is something happening in the background.
It could be a sandbag for all we know but something happened back there.
If it is true it's hard for me to believe that not one person would come forward with the story after all these years.

I imagine they fear it would give the film a bad rep if there is a suicide or murder on set. Sure, there are usually fatal accidents, but murder and/or suicide would have different effects.
But yes, it could be anything and I think they'd rather leave it to imagination? Who knows….

Actually that looks like he's comparing two entirely different viewpoints.
He's also using two different shots (one with them dancing on the road, one with no one on the road), so if this happened (just sayin') it would make sense that at one time it would show and another it wouldn't.
I see the bird, but not in the same space.

I remember hearing about this, it was a very controversial part. Some claimed it's fake and some claimed it's real. But I've been hearing some stories that the actor who played scarecrow stumbled because he witnessed the hanging body out of disbelief and the actress who played Dorthy was seen in anguish at that, but I think it's most likely fake and it's probably some dummies or some silhouette hanging. Who knows, really.
Though, there was a rumor that the midget hanged himself because he was heartbroken that he was rejected by his love interest.
Tragic, if that's true.

Whatever happened during this scene you can see Garland looking back over her shoulder a couple times. She either saw or heard something. On the VHS version I have, you can see it. I don't necessarily think anybody killed themselves but something happened. If it was as simple as a dummy or a sandbag then why not just say that?
