      Wikipedia says.
"After serving briefly as professor of physics at Dijon Lyce in 1848, he became professor of chemistry at Strasbourg University, where he met and courted Marie Laurent, daughter of the university's rector in 1849. They were married on May 29, 1849 and together they had five children, only two of whom survived to adulthood."
So the movie misses only one. I am glad they didn't add extra spice with this (as in an overly dramiatic scene vowing to save other children) but in fact he had taken an extra interesting in "Joseph", "write me once a month" so some mention would have been appropriate.
"But other than that, it's an excellent film & Paul Muni gives another excellent performance."
Agree wish I had taped it.

Well only because it was you.
The "extra spice" comment of mine above didn't come out very well, I did think the movie was grand. Hope they have it on again soon as I want to "grab it" next time. Seeing the date on your original post, it seems it is shown every now and then.
