I realize most people aren't going to want to spend $20 for a ticket and some popcorn to watch a 63 minute movie, but they should. If this movie had included thirty more minutes of filler, I'd have found it boring. Despite, nothing really happening for the middle 40 minutes of the movie, it completely works. Sure the over-acting is distracting at times, but that was the era.
I would love to see a modern director take this and do a frame by frame remake, possibly extending the boat scene and the finale and cutting the evening drinks scene. It's really an amazing story and despite being adapted loosely, I'd love someone to tackle this one directly.
