Does anybody not like the ending? David and Sylvia hardly did anything wrong in this movie to deserve being the 'casualties' in the love triangle.

Since when do you have to do something wrong to be a casualty?

I loved the ending. As much as it pained me to see David get shot down, it really brought home the message of the movie. It may not have been a happy ending (like we're used to today) but it was definitely a good one.

I didn't love it because I don't like the cliche where Jack suddenly realizes that Mary is the girl for him after all, but I was surprised that the ending was so sad. I did like the fact that they didn't stick on a happy ending.

Thought David kind of stupid to try flying a German plane back home. It was dangerous and the Germans were in retreat; he should have surrendered and would have been liberated soon.

they may have been "victims" in the movie but Richard and Jobyna married in real life in 1927 just before the premiere.
