If any lists could be credited with nudging me to see this, it would be the They Shoot Pictures, Don't They? list of 1000 greatest films (which I'd say is the best list of its kind out there), and maybe SilentEra.com's list of the 100 greatest films of the silent era.

I've been working this list since 2009 and having just seen Foolish Wives would recommend saving it until you need some help with your assisted suicide. All over the place and not that engaging in any one of them. Some stills of the count as "The Great Poseur" would be entertaining though, especially with those ridiculous cigarettes. His other film in the list, Greed, is marginally better, though longer.

Totally agree, this was pretty brutal. Next stop, The Thief of Bagdad(24) from one of my favourite directors ever.

That's why I saw it, and I was pleasantly surprised. Right now, I'm working on seeing all of the pre-1930's era films on the list (there's about 50 of them), and "Foolish Wives" is definitely one of my favorites so far.
