A legitimate remake is not a rip off.

But actually.. John Carpenter's The Thing more resembled the original novella than The Thing from Another World so it's really not even a remake.it's a different translation of the same novella.a better one at that.
I heard there's to be a prequel to John Carpenter's version though.it will suck I'm sure.

to be fair, even if this idea has been done a million times, it could still be a good movie
Do I think it will be a good movie? definitely not, but it's possible

I'm watching it now and so far it's entertaining and suspensful enough. Sure it's not John Carpenter's The Thingbut what is?
It's a different take thoughnothing takes over your bodyyou simply get this bug and die from it, it's just very deadly and contagious.

I agree with alesisqs61 it's not bad and just like a different take on the thing. I'm assuming it was low budget so I think they did a prety good job. Creepy and i liked the sets, very "thing" like. Not the kind of movie i'd pay to see at the cinema but a cheap rental 🙂

oh who gives a toss if an idea has been done before or not. I think you will be pretty hard pushed to find something totally new that no1 else hasnt done in someway or another.

Exactly. As long as it's done well again, who cares? Everything is a semi ripoff of something else, which itself was a semi ripoff.
Unfortunately, this was just a bad movie. They didn't improve upon anything nor present anything new. Just weak in about every way
