The classic oscar winning Film Ben Mur has been remade in 3D ,guess, rendered. No remake will ever take the place of the 1959 classic .I think 3D is a bribe to get people to see it. Remaking is a poor sign of lack of creativity.

A lack of creativity in Hollywood? Surely not?

While I egree the 2016 "Ben Hur" looks dreadful, do not look down upon the concept of remakes in general. The 1959 "Ben Hur" was already a remake of MGM's 1925 version, which is a classic in its own right.
And if it weren't for remakes, we wouldn't have the Vincent Price "House of Wax," remade from the 1932 "Mystery in the Wax Museum."

the company thinks that they can get the same profit as the 1959 version got.

I was not aware I made a error.Ben Hur.In 25 it was redone to show it as a feature ,it was first made a s a short. This was also to display a new color process,Two color technicolor. In 59 it was done to explore it in big wide 70 mm screen and stereo phonic sound as well as dialog. The current remake is in a process that came out in 52.There no excuse to remake it cause there is not new technology to explore it,It's over explore,If the Virginians would be remade today in 3D it would be over use of it or Worst Gog!Or even just as bad .I hope they keep putting it off.Universal is remaking the creature form the black lagoon. They keep putting it off because of other projects.Instead of remaking it,they need to make a return of the monster with new terror .THE CREATURE RETURNS AGAIN.Watch then remake Gog or the Bubble and make it like Alien.

I think the world needs a 3D remake of "Rawhead Rex", preferably by someone who's read the original story and with a monster that hasn't come from a joke shop.
