Although nothing could be further from the truth. Pinky and especially Millie were NOT fat. It was a little harder to tell with Willie because she had a bun in the oven, but I don't think she was fat.

Three Fat Women
What happened, was that Millie and Pinky started spending a lot of time away from the Purple Sage at Ida and Vincent's farm helping out with the smoked meats. Pinky had pointed out how fat Laura Louise was and she over-heard her last time she was at the Castevet's. Roman and Minnie had thought they might try again to get her impregnated with devil spawn.
It didn't work of course work because Pinky took Millie's diary this time and started drawing in it with the blood that was supposed to be for the naked body ritual and she just wouldn't lie still. LL had of course been feasting on V & I's tasty treats when she had last been visiting Hicksville and her redneck family near the secret garden.
Well, since Minnie thought both Millie and Pinky could do with some chubbing up, no-one would eat her cooking, she asked Laura Louise to tell Pinky where it was since they resided over on the west coast. Millie was able to sneak Pinky on as a stowaway like Mrs. Q over to NY when she was doing her brief stint as an Air Hostess after watching Airport '75 and had signed up for a glam life in the skies. That is how they met the Castevet's.
Well long story made a bottom one, M & P ended up having one heck of a feast with I & V, along with the tubing picnics they went too and they both expanded like Ida with rumbling tummies all the time.
They took some smoked meats back home for Willie too because Millie thought it would be healthy for the baby, (we know how that turned out for poor Willie, but Millie was never that sharp), and all 3 of them porked up real good.
That night when Millie chastised Pinky for being boring and she jumped into the swimming pool to drown herself, when Pinky hit the water, all the water got out because she was such a heffa and she just bounced on the bottom. All Willie had to do was roll her over to the side and then Edgar hired a crane to lift her out.
That is how
3 FAT WOMEN
came about. It wasn't exactly the vision Altman had in mind, but he just had to roll along with it too.
