    There are plenty of philosophical SF movies I didn't really like much, such as Stalker, Interstellar, Ex Machina, Contact and especially the idiotic Arrival. My picks would be:
    2001: a space odyssey (1968)
    Star Trek the Motion Picture Director's Cut (1979)
    Forbidden Planet (1956)
    Minority Report (2002)
    The Incredible Shrinking Man (1957)

      the first star trek movie was so good. I loved the little twist at the end.
