OT: Did you have an internet life before IMDb?

Before IMDb, I spent my time on Christian Mingle, a dating site.
When I discovered the IMDb boards, everything changed for the better.
I was enjoying many of the spin-off boards. But when
Club IMDb
closed forever, I cried.
These were the days when Donald Newton villianously roamed the horror board, and Corpus Vile was the ambassador for the board.
When I realized internet life isn't all that important, I began to focus on real-life instead.
I learned to live in reality, with real people in real situations. Blessed be.
Nice to meet any new members. I used to be Soapbox_Custodian.

Yes, been on IRC (various servers & networks, mainly undernet) since 1994-1995. Been coming to IMDB/amazon for a long time (lurking) since mid 90s also but didn't actually sign up an account until 2006 for some reason.

I discovered IMDb back in 2006. I'd been online since 2001, but used the Internet much more infrequently in those days. Not necessarily because of the absence of IMDb in my life, mind you, but mostly because we only had very slow and inefficient dial-up Internet until 2007 and an awkwardly positioned desktop PC (no laptop).
Can't recall what my top sites during those years would have been. Wikipedia, I guess. -

I used to post on AllHipHop before it in the early 00's.
Had to pretend to be black cause all white guys automatically got dogged on and any critic regarding what rappers were good and not was not taken seriously because as a white person you were deemed uncapable to truly know what was good rap or not.
They'd also have callouts where they find out who was white or who was not American by tricking people into giving their IP's and stuff or catfishing them for pics or whatever.
I got keys coming from overseas!

I flited around numerous boards on IMDB before learning there was a Horror Board some 6 or 7 year ago. Been online since mid-90s. -

I was online for a few years before I started coming to IMDB a lot. I started going online in about late 1997, or early 1998. Hotbot was my favorite search engine I was one of Amazon.com's top 500 Reviewers, for awhile. I remember I loved a screensaver called Bad Dog.

I also remember going to some chat rooms, until about 2002 or so. I knew a few people there, enough to say hi and "chat." Sometimes I still wonder what they are up to now.
I remember I liked to use a website called Bigfoot, to find old friends. Here, I think this was it:

On IMDB, the CW show Supernatural was my first "main" board, my home board that I went to every day. I'm still in touch with a few people I met there jeez, I have known them for over 10 years now.

I first got on the internet in 1996 and joined the American Singles dating site right away. Since I could never approach women or make friends in person I thought it was something I could try. I never got any replies but then I discovered American Singles Chat. I tried talking to people and making friends there, but just like in real life everyone hated me. I got harassed and threatened and had huge arguments with everyone I talked to. Some were nice at first and then after they found out I collected bugs and had never had a girlfriend they'd turn on me and say I was weird and creepy. One time I got tired of it and went off on everyone in there, and called them all a lot of obscene names. They retaliated by threatening to kill me and posting all my personal information in the chat rooms (home address, social security number, parents' names, etc). Then I got even madder and told them I thought they were bluffing and called them cowards, and they threatened to send me letter bombs. I said they didn't have the brains or the guts to do so, and they then threatened to blow up the Space Shuttle just to prove to me they could do it. It turned out my neighbors and some other people from around where I lived were in there and they called the cops. Three guys showed up to my house and claimed to be from the ATF. I got the entire blame, my house was searched and I was accused again of being a terrorist and a pedophile, and asked to get out of town. These guys turned out to be a city cop, the owner of a local realty and a Baptist minister who were impersonating federal agents. They said they had complaints from people and businesses all over the country and around town about me threatening people and trying to entice women and kids online. I'd never done anything like that, but they didn't believe me. They accused me of being gay and called my mom a whore, and said I wasn't welcome in town. I know it was mostly coming from my neighbors and some businesses right in town.
Then I tried Yahoo Chat and it was more of the same. No one called the cops again but I never got along with anyone anywhere no matter who I tried to talk to or where in the world they were from. I've been on lots of dating sites over the years, and the few women who did contact me were horrible and I just ended up having arguments with them. I'm still on two such sites but have vowed that I will delete myself off them the night I turn 50.
So, the internet has been awful for me from day one. The horror board and other places here at IMDb have not been any better. -

Well, yakko, your life story seems weirdly similar to mine, except for the fact that i was never accused of being a padophile or terrorirst, and no one has ever called the cops on me, and ive had in the past more gfs than i could handle, and that gave me more problems than joy.

I've had the cops called on me so many times I've lost count. I never got arrested, just harassed and accused.
If you had multiple girlfriends you must have at least enjoyed the sex. So you got to enjoy something. I've never enjoyed anything at all. My entire life had been a waste. And I'm probably older than you.
But I know there are many problems that can come with having girlfriends. There's jealousy, venereal diseases, and unwanted pregnancies. Plus a lot of drama, which women are champions at. I wouldn't have wanted any of those problems either. I tend to solve problems with my fists (at least when I was a kid), and that can only lead to more trouble. I punched many girls in self-defense before I turned 18. Even broke one's arm with a rock. -

That's the truest thing ever been said by anyone ever to live on this round earth

Jesus that was terrible! They are dangerous but not IN THAT sense!
.If you had multiple girlfriends you must have at least enjoyed the sex.
It's never bad. Not always monster ball good though. Immanuel kant, Jesus and t.e. Lawrence avoided it or probably never had it and left a lasting impression in society. Five years after I die, probably nobody will even remember my name. Meaning that you can live and be meaningful without it.

They were punching me first, so they had it coming. The one who's arm I broke didn't hit me but she called me a fag and a child molester, so I lost my temper and threw the rock as hard as I could. Then her dad and two other neighbors came after me and I called them "inbred hillbillies like in Deliverance" and threatened them with a cultivator. They backed off in a hurry, but I got plenty of hassle in school the next few days over it.
Sex can be bad I'm sure. I'm sure it would be bad if I had it, like everything else in my life has been. Jesus was not a real person, so what he did or didn't do has no bearing on anything. Myths/fables/fairy tales/lies don't count. -
gottfrid — 9 years ago(December 20, 2016 10:20 PM)
. Jesus was not a real person
Actually the existence of historical Jesus is supported by reasonable archaeological evidence. A young rabbi, yeshua Ben yussef, in the first decades of the first millennium has stirred things up with his phylosophy. There are enough documents and evidence to support that on a reasonable level. But, was that guy the catholic god? That is very disputable. Same thing can be said of Moses, David and a few others. Job on the other hand seems not to be a historical figure, though.
