One of my favorite films. Yorgos' masterpiece, and he is definitely one of the most interesting, recent filmmakers around today.
As far as similar films go.. it's hard to compare. Goodnight Mommy, maybe? Maps to the Stars? I'd even recommend another Yorgos film, The Killing of a Sacred Deer.

The plot is more a lot more absurdist in The Lobster, which is more of a strange comedy. The Killing of a Sacred Deer is a lot more dark, but the kind of deadpan detachment among the characters is prevalent (although, in my opinion, is done better and appropriately in Deer). I really loved The Killing of a Sacred Deer, it was one of my favorite films of 2017.

If you want an extremely bizarre film about a dysfunctional family, check out Visitor Q. It's not quite like Dogtooth, like I said.. hard to compare, but it'll be hard to find a family-centric film as ****ed up as Visitor Q.

Yes he did. I hated both
The Lobster
and
Sacred Deer.
They were both stupid and cruel imho. And from what I've read,
Dogtooth
is pretty ****ing stupid also.
