    Was it as big as
    The Wizard of Oz
    ? How?
    It's interesting how movies, say
    Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
which produces a simple enough message to get across and portray accurately enough with Johnny Depp, are both accurate iconic-ly and a remarkable accomplishment? as well as interesting in general and as you might say "Burtonesque??" sometiems.
    ½ S/N Asian (40%+ Chinese) ½ Norwegian/Danish-Irish Swiss (Amish/PA) German French Dutch? French+Dutch Celtic-Irish English-Irish? 🇮🇹..?

Do you think Hollywood is also lacking experienced stars?

Nothing can touch The Wizard of OZ. It's truly iconic.
Alice in Wonderland was fine and I enjoyed it a lot. I thought Johnny Depp was an interesting and very "Burtonesque" Mad Hatter.

All actors are worth it, some stand out, but that doesn't always matter. I tend not to see things all the time the same way.
True, there is a stamp of the past embedded in
          The Wizard of Oz
. I'm glad they didn't do sequels, but it would be fun. It just became overly icon-ized, maybe honestly like "to no end" if you follow. It might be endearing to some more than others. I like the play a lot, it has a dancing jitterbug scene that made me more interested in dance than theater, but I still respect both and desire both.
If I did acting, I'd want to look real good but not be presented alone, see what I mean?
