I can only think of 3 cop shows that were shown from the beat cop point of view. Adam 12, rookie blue, and NYC 22, which was cancelled. Are there any more cops shows that didn't revolve around the detectives? Thanks in advance.

SOUTHLAND is mostly about uniformed cops (in south LA) but it also includes a few detectives. In my opinion its the best cop show on TV and well worth checking out. It proves that everyday policing is interesting enough if you tell the stories well but the gritty relentless realism of the show can make for depressing viewing. After watching it, I often found myself wondering what keeps them doing the job - some of the stories are genuinely sad and make you despair for society. It's best followed by a dose of your favourite light hearted comedy!

An old one. George Kennedy in the Blue Knight is another.

Not sure if Beretta counts. I thank he was an undercover detective. -

And around the same period,
Joe Forrester
with Lloyd Bridges started pounding the beat for one season after being introduced on the show
Police Story
.

I really like Rookie Blue a lot.
AND NYC 22 another one they sucked you into watching a really cool show, then without any warningBAM GONE!
I HATE THAT!
You think I could start a lawsuit charging emotional abandonment with these people that intice you with commercials, encourage you to watch, you watch, you bond with the characters, (I mean some even bring tears to my eyes and that aint easy)then, they say, watch tonight's season finale!!! (Indicating, there will be another season). Then you wait, and wait and wait. Never to be heard of again! How disappointing!
Times that by every show you've ever invested time and emotion in and that's a lot of let downs! -

The Shield. Although the show revolves around a corrupt detective, beat cops got a lot of screen time too. Catherine Dent's Danni, Michael Jace's Julien and Paula Garces' Tina (Season 5 onward) were the three noteworthy officers of the show and quite a few subplots revolved around them.

Bar none the best cop series is
the wire
. I don't know how you you've all missed it but if you haven't watched it i seriously recommend. After you watch that you won't be able to watch another cop series without comparing it to
the wire

There is no comparison to "The Wire". I don't even try to compare it. However, while I'm on the subject, has anyone been watching "Graceland"?
It's not great(as in wire great), but the plot has thickened progressively since the pilot.
I'm really enjoying the actors and their characters. I just may post something to see if others are watching it. Curious.
