Incredible handheld with lots of great games. Lots of fabulous NES/SNES ports and lots of fabulous originals too. Plus backwards compatibility with the Gameboy and Gameboy Color.
The only problem with the system was that the original model had a poor screen. The SP model fixed this.
It was also among the last old-fashioned systems, that simply played games and didn't do much in the way of multimedia. They did have "GBA Video" but that didn't make much of an impression.
Glad to see GBA games coming to the Wii U virtual console.

The original Gameboy was excellent. Had the best-ever version of "Tetris". By comparison the Gameboy Advance version of Tetris was pretty dire, which is rather shocking.

Question: Did the GBA run on regular AA batteries (generally, I mean did it run on disposable batteries) or did it have an in-built battery with a re-charger? I'm looking at getting one and putting it on display in my games room.

The original GBA used two AA batteries. The GBA SP used a build-in battery with re-recharger.
I consider the GBA SP to be the better model, as it has a better display.
