I wish the company that released these sets had re-released the first season, too. The same company, TGG Direct, recently released The Young Riders season 3 and also re-released the first season that had been released by MGM 7 years ago. I also got the Bat Masterson, Sea Hunt & Ripcord DVD sets that were recently released by TGG Direct.

the dvd's would be pretty cool. The show is currently showing on ME TV..Memorable Entertainment TVright after Sea Hunt. I am really surprised how poorly written the shows werebut, damn, I loved watching them as a kid and I still do now. I really get a kick watching how the cars performed in the showsOMG were they pieces of crap on wheels. Capn Dan drove a Buick Roadmaster while the patrolman drove Dodges/Plymouths etcit was Fin City back then. But, watching them try to turn those boats around with the manual steering or driving over a rough patch of road/stopping and hearing the brakes squeak or the springs bounce the cars around. If I were mfg I would have paid them NOT to use my car.

I've been in several cars like that and yes! They did float around a lot, and when you came to a stop, the car rocked back and forth. It was odd, and it was what led to them being referred to as 'boats'
Fin City sounds like a cool, but kooky place.

A little side note, some of those Buicks had manual transmissions.
Actually 50% of the 1955 Buicks were manual transmissions as the CHP was evaluating which way to go in the future

And "death traps", and "rolling coffins", etc. My first car was a '57 Oldsmobile 98. I bought it from a neighbor for $50this was in 1965 or so when you could get used cars dirt cheapand it was a top-of-the-line, one-owner car that had been well taken care of, but if you hit the brakes at 55 or so, it would throw the car completely out of control. It was overpowered and undersprung, rode like a sofa on wheelsit had no road feel at alland I'm astounded that I actually didn't get killed considering how much and how fast I drove it, but God did I love that car. The right front wheel flew off one day after I hit a pothole and I wound up hitting a tree. I didn't get hurt very badly but the car was destroyed.
Ah well

Seeing all those beautiful classic cars is pretty much the reason I love watching those old episodes. I mean, the plot is the same story over and over again each episode - bad guys do bad things, victim calls HP, Matthews gets going, then bad guys get caught.
Aside from the patrol cars, the criminals usually have some cool rides and in that climate many are convertibles. Plus, it
can
get really funny watching the aging Broderick Crawford's not-so-graceful stride when running.
