The 2 are great awesome actors and the fact they happen to be gay really doesn't enter into it. They are so good, I am surprised that they did this when they have so many films and probably;y more $$, Loved it

Sorry to be the first negative post, but I absolutely hate it. I can't believe the fine actors agreed to the script, it's not remotely clever.
It reminded me of
Miranda
, but at least the latter is compensated by the main character who just looks like a disaster area.
You can't even laugh at the couple in
Vicious
, they're just miserable and use -

I really wanted to like it because of the cast, but it was just camp-gay-misogynist stereotype. It struck me as the show they might have wanted to do thirty years ago, and finally can now, but they are thirty years too late.

Totally agree with blankk23 - I was incredibly disappointed with this, and all I saw was the Christmas special! Were these two great actors so desperate to act together that they setlled for this witless camp-fest? Did they have sudden, unexpected expenses requiring a quick paycheck? Whatever, I was truly embarassed for both of them. I wasn't surprised to learn that most reviewers savaged this show.

I think you're spot-on. It would have been more at home in the mid-seventies. I mean, it still would have been rubbish; but, the sense of shameful disappointment in it all might have been less somehow.
Eeek!!! I'm getting dressed. -

On PBS here, last season, they showed
Last Tango in Halifax
followed immediately by
Vicious
. All they needed to do was follow that with
Cadfael
or
I, Cladius
for a true Derek Jacobi festival.
He filmed the first two series in the same time period. Interesting seeing the two so very different characters back-to-back.
