Stranger Things

Brown has signed on to star in
Godzilla: King of the Monsters
, Legendarys sequel to its 2014 creature feature.
Michael Dougherty is directing the project, which he also co-wrote with Zach Shields, his partner on Legendarys horror movie Krampus.
Details of the plot are being kept secret, as are character details.
King of Monsters is part of a giant monster cinematic universe that also includes
Kong: Skull Island

or maybe we overestimate her standing in Hollywood and she can call herself very lucky that she landed that part, after all it will be a very big production.
Big Production doesn't always mean good movie. I find her to be a fantastically talented actress but I'm not a Godzilla fan and don't like her first choice. At the risk of sounding redundant it's her life and her career afterall. -

i am really not sure that this a smart move for her. not even moneywise, because she only burns down her reputation with projects like that and her reputation is the one thing that will bring her money and awards in the future.
I don't think there is no harm whatsoever to do a blockbuster like that, even if it is just for the money. The only problem would be if it would create scheduling conflicts with a potentially better project that is shooting around the same time.
Which leads me to my question. What does this mean for a potential Season 3 of
Stranger Things
? Remember that
Kong: Skull Island
comes out in March 10, 2017 and was shot from October 19, 2015 to March 18, 2016. While
Godzilla: King of Monsters
is going to be released on March 22, 2019. So if they follow a similar production pattern for this movie, then this would probably mean that they would be shooting it around the same time period as
Stranger Things
normally tends to film their seasons. -

I was hoping she would choose smth better but to each their own.

This may answer your question : The Duffers on the GG red carpet announced that there is going to be a change in cast for S3 so maybe Millie is the change. -

Like what? Which better projects that are shooting around the same time would have a role suited for Millie? That's always easier to say than done. Fact is that there aren't many great projects for 13/14 year olds out there and the few who are always have a lot of competition during the audition process.

Do you have a link to that interview? The ones I saw only talked about Season 2 and that there would be some new cast members. But Season 2 isn't a problem for Millie, since she is shooting it right now. -

IDK what man I was just hoping she would wait a little longer for something better OK! I think I'm entitled to my own opinion as you 238are to yours!

No I don't. I saw it on the red carpet live on E channel. My worry is that she won't be in S3 and if that's case as you yourself said then why is she choosing a project that will conflict with something better like ST?! -

Of course you are entitled to your opinion. I was just pointing out a different perspective because I get the feeling that a lot of people overestimate the amount of options that young teen actresses have. Starring in a sequel of a movie that has made $529.1 million in the box office doesn't sound like the worst thing for a young actress who has never done a movie before.

If it turns out that this movie will really create scheduling conflicts with a potential Season 3 of
Stranger Things
, then I agree with you that this was a bad choice. -

sure but some of us hoped she would do more advanced stuff
Yes, but I don't think that the "advanced stuff" is really available at the moment. There are really just a few interesting roles for actresses of that age out there. Normally they either get coming of age roles or they play the daughter of a more important character.
Millie actually got extremely lucky in getting such a compelling role like Eleven in
Stranger Things
. Since these type of roles are extremely rare at that age. -
pmfg_pan — 9 years ago(January 28, 2017 06:22 PM)
i think that she could carry a whole movie with a compelling and ambitious role regardless of her age. like many here wrote before, they would watch anything that she is in, because she has "it" (whatever it is).
Yes, but who knows? Maybe her role in this is somehow compelling? -

I agree with you guys. I, too, was hoping she would do something with a little (lot) more 'depth'. She is certainly capable of grabbing one's emotions.
Eleven, according to the Duffers, Levy and others, even her own co-stars have admitted that she was supposed to be a lot less that what she became.
My guess is no more than another cliched 'escaped lab experiment that causes a lot of havoc'.
She (Millie) is tiny, cute as a button and disarmingly charming to the point of being kind of mesmerizing. She dictated her 'haircut' and continuously hounded the Duffers about adding dialogue and re-shooting scenes they were already happy with. Several of her 're-shoots' ended up in the series. They've all agreed that if Eleven hadn't worked, the series wouldn't have worked.
I'm hoping that she can pull off some of that magic on this

That's what I was hooping for too, but this choice only leads me to the conclusion that despite being Insanely Talented she is more after the fame. -

Those things are not mutually exclusive. The greatest stars in Hollywood do both. Sometimes they do projects for critical acclaim and sometimes they do big blockbusters. Millie already has a lot of critical acclaim coming from her role as Eleven, so it makes sense for her to also do a big movie that will help increase her profile among people who don't watch the show. -

It Doesn't make sense to me. I'm sick and Tired of Mindless Hollywood crap. NOT EVERYONE is into Hollywood Blockbuster type of movies and TBH I was hoping she would hold out for better roles even that meant waiting a few more years. -

Turns out
Godzilla 2
is going to start shooting in the summer and in Atlanta. So this is actually very convenient for Millie. Maybe this was also one of the reasons why she decided to do this project, because Atlanta has already become a second home for her since she is so used to shoot
Stranger Things
there.
