I have to agree, I have been watching Walking Dead and got to this episode today. Aside from the fact by this time in the series, this show has jumped the shark. Sophia was a bad kill, and the show lost something.
The other problem is that this whole scenario points out one of the most glaring problems with this show, they don't develop the minor characters well enough.
While Sophia was a LITTLE better known than the kid zombie at the beginning of the series, she was still pretty much an unknown who appeared out of nowhere about 4 episodes in. -

Guess that episode where she get lost (What Lies Ahead) is as much as a development we got from her.
She didn't talk too mucho during season one, and I admit I did hardly care about her until the Second Season first chapter. I guess because that was her last appearance before her death, she was given a little more lines.
The whole Grand Canyon story just make you feel more for her, as she still saw the world as a child. Later on, I realized now she will never be able to see the Grand Canyon as Rick promised to her. -

If this character had been more developed, it would have been a major asset to the cast.
Thinking that she learns to kill by necessity, but keeps the "good" if that makes sense to counteract and keep Carl in line. Carl needs to be questioned on alot of what he is doing, and that could have been Sophia's job.
While I enjoy this show, there's very few characters that have any redeeming value. Sophia could have been that one, and the writers really screwed up with this character.
