This takes place in Ireland around 1800.
O'Flynn (Douglas Fairbanks Jr) is returning, after a long time away, to his home in Ireland. On the way home he helps the Lady Benedetta (Helena Carter), the daughter of Viceroy, get away from some highwaymen. O'Flynn falls for Lady Benedetta, but she is betrothed to Lord Sedgemonth (Richard Greene). It turns out that the highwaymen are really agents for the French (under Bonaparte). O'Flynn helps Lady Bendetta get some papers through to the Viceroy warning of France's plan to take over Ireland… O'Flynn continues to help prevent the French plot with lots of swashbuckling action involved.
I enjoyed this movie quite a bit. O'Flynn's jumping, swinging around, and sword play reminded me a bit of Errol Flynn in Robin Hood. While not a big star, Helena Carter is quite pretty and does a nice job with her role. This movie currently get a 7.0 on IMDB, I would give it a 7.5 myself.
Watching this movie makes one feel a little sad that Douglas Fairbanks jr fell out of favor with Hollywood after WWII and didn't make more movies in this period.
