I'm sorry if you are a fan of his but I just don't understand why he's famous, but I would love to hear what you have to say about this.

I think he's hot but I don't think he's that famous. IF you don't watch Dancing with the Stars you probably don't know who he is.

Because he is a fabulous dancer and a good musician. His talent knows no bounds. And, he is very, very attractive/handsome too.

MissyYipare you asking why Derek Hough is on a show called "Dancing with the Stars" when he isn't really famous? If you are, then you have to understand that Derek is not considered one of the "stars" of DWTS. The "star" in his partnership is Brooke Burke, and Derek serves as her professional dance partner. Granted, Brooke Burke herself isn't such a big star, but she is a model and a TV personality who has been on a few shows before DWTS.
As the show has gained popularity, some of the professional dancers who are on every season, like Derek and his sister Julianne, have sort of become celebrities in their own right. Julianne has probably become the most famous dancer on the show because she has launched a recording career. But for the most part they are famous only to fans of the show.
If you were already aware of this, then I'm not sure I understand your question, since not too many people really identify Derek as "famous".

He is the Michael Jackson of dance. He is this generation's Astaire and Kelly. Got it now?
