Not sure if I would go so far as to say ‘like’, but so far as lefties go I hold some sort of respect for her intelligence and astuteness. Her politics is still bogging though.
Did you see this? I’d have expected the SNP to penalise the rich kids more, not the poorer. I don’t get the logic here.

That article reads quite badly to me. I mean has it turned out that the kids in the most deprived area have ended up with worse exams results due to teachers input? Or was it a cynical attempt to keep the lower classes down using some sort of postcode allocation?
I hate to say stuff like this but it probably is a reasonably fair reflection on those areas. Poorer areas would be more likely to have absenteeism and well, more stupid kids. Of course some will slip through the net and get higher/lower grades than they deserve.
I believe that exam results can be challenged by the school but I think you'd have to show that the student would have been capable of attaining a good result.
It may have been more fair to give each student the opportunity to repeat the year from September or whenever they will go back.
Surprisingly I never agreed with schools closing and the teachers unions need burning.

I’m not sure what was done in England, but in Scotland exam results were based on the estimate results, along with the teacher’s general impression of the person.
However, this resulted in far greater performance than previous years, which would obviously devalue the achievement. So they started reducing the grades, but based on postcode.
Kids from richer areas are certainly more likely to perform better, but I don’t understand why postcode was relevant here. It was based on prior results and the teacher’s impression, so it shouldn’t factor into it.
