She really needs to take roles that. . .

allow her to lose weight! Not that I am against being a full figured lady, I myself am not a skinny mini, but I worry about Nikki's health. Not that her size automatically means she sits around eating ice cream all day (like I do.) I just remember her looking smaller in Hairspray. And I remember reading that when she started losing weight (because of all the dancing) they made her eat cheese burgers and other stuff so she would gain weight again. I just feel like the shows she works for are keeping her from being healthy. I'm not saying she should become anorexic skinny, or even skinny, some people are just meant to be full figured, whatever it's not a big deal. I just wonder what would happen if she didn't take "fat girl" roles.

It's not that she is only taking 'fat girl' roles, it's that that is all that is offered, if she wants to work, that's what she's stuck playing until society opens up and allows all sorts of people to be popular in all sorts of roles, or she drastically alters her apperance, it's not a criticism, it's just a fact. I wish things were different

I agree, RedSaidPaisley. America Ferrera is another good example of an actress who is not stick thin, but she at least looks healthy and has more roles available to her. Nikki does have some real talent, but the role of the put-upon obese girl trying to send the world a message only lasts so long. She can't do that forever. I really do wish her well and hope that she finds success.

I don't understand.
Not only has she taken jobs that specifically required her to exercise a bunch, such as Hairspray and Huge, but all jobs present the opportunity to lose weight because acting means being up early, working long hours, being on your feet all day, everyday for months and months.
But also, why does she need to lose weight? She will be type-cast anyway. Even America Ferrera was basically called fat the whole time she was on Ugly Betty even though she's actually quite small and can only play 'regular' roles now that she's underweight. I like the roles she chooses. She never plays 'insert random love interest' roles - her characters are almost always complex and interesting. So what if they also happen to be fat? If she was skinny, would she even be noticed and therefore be in movies?
