At least I thought I did.
It started Saturday night. My dad took me to a haunted house with grandkids, except it was a Covid-friendly drive-through haunted house. No one got out of their cars.
It was cold-ish, but I was feeling warm, so I rolled down my window (or…levered down my window? I guess we don't roll our windows anymore). I was on the passenger side, where the air was hitting my ear.
As I got home, my dad started a bonfire in the backyard for the kiddos. We all sat around it. I noticed at this time, I would feel a sensation if I leaned my ear close to the fire, as it felt like it was frostbitten.
That night, I slept with a headband on, thinking my ear was just cold. The next day the pain had grown: my entire right side, from my ear, lymph nodes, to my jaw, had swelled up.
Sunday came, and then I got a fever of 102. I was having the chills despite it being not that cold out. I made me cocktail of Melatonin, Vitamin D3, and Nyquil. I wore a tight compressed shirt and fleece to bed, to sweat out the flu.
I slept a long time - 16 hours. But it was an uncomfortable sleep. I kept waking up every 4 hours with pain in my right ear, and having to pee. Finally I got a cup and just peed in that. Can't be getting up to pee. By the end of it, I was hot again, and I took off my shirt.
I was in the worst pain I have probably ever been in my life, at least the longest duration of it.
My whole right side was numb with pain, it hurt to chew and brush my teeth. I couldn't open up my mouth fully. My boss said I can't go back to work until I get the Covid test.
Monday I had the Covid test along with a prescription for antiboiticás, steroids, and I got a steroid shot in my butt. My right ear was so infected, they had to put a wooden stint in it to make space for my eardrops - as even the doctor couldn't see past the infection to check my eardrum.
I'm feeling much better today; the pain is practically gone, but I still can't hear out of my right ear and there's pressure there if I touch it.
The steroids even got rid of this Excema spot I had on my pinky finger.

No. I never had difficulty breathing in my life. My doctor said I have the lungs and voice of a Greek God.
I like driving now, because it's much quieter. I can't hear the other cars on the road. It's serene and peaceful.
