Nothing has been officially announced, but fans have figured out that Mia and Rob are filming a Western where a man who's looking for a fresh start pursues the woman of his dreams.
Production Weekly shows the movie, Damsel (as in Damsel in distress), directed by David Zellner, is set to film on July 12th, for 32 days. Cast of 5 with a lot of extras.
Rob and Mia have been seen in Park City several times, and a fan called the office where they do the local extra casting and got confirmation that they're in the film. They became friends when they filmed
Maps to the Stars
several years ago, and wanted to make
Brimstone
together, until Mia had to drop out and Rob had a conflict with another movie he already had a commitment to.
Salt Lake Tribune:
Damsel Productions will get $269,00 to $337,000 to film a Western, identified as ZB Pioneer Film, this summer in the Wasatch Mountains and Summit County. Driven by David and Nathan Zellner, this movie will have a cast of five, crew of 27 and 70 extras, whose 32 days of shooting will result in $1.35 million in spending.

Hope it's true. Wonder what kind of film it is. Sounds like they're keeping it under wraps, except for the release of Utah State incentive funding and people spotting them walking around - Whole Foods, no less. Thanks for the tip Curzon Street. Looking forward to finding out more.

It's true. There's no other reason for them to be in Park City right now. They're not on vacation
Plus, the extra casting office confirmed their involvement.
Rob was photographed at a dentist today, getting molds for silver crowns to be put on his teeth it's for the movie, not for his real life.
It's a 32-day shoot, it fits in his schedule because he doesn't have another film lined up that we know about until October. Not sure what Mia's been up to, but I keep catching
Maps to the Stars
on HBO late at night, and her performance never gets old. She's so good as Agathe.
She and Rob became very good friends on that shoot, and they share a friendship with Jamie Bell and Kate Mara. They were all photographed in NY going out to dinner right before the Met Gala in May (which they also all attended the next night). So this should be a fun and easy shoot for them, co-star wise. We don't want her to have another Shia LaBouf experience.

Yes, they really seem to like each other and I thought they were excellent together in "Maps" - good chemistry.

They finished shooting in Utah on Friday, and have moved to Oregon this week. Rob and Mia were spotted cafe there today.

I believe they're filming at the beach in Oregon. Mia posed with a guy at a cafe, he was very excited to meet her, and she seems so sweet and unspoiled.

Lucky guy. Don't know what I'd say to Mia if I ever met her - probably just tell her how much I love her films, and that the characters she's played are now permanent residents of my imagination.

There are 23 pics that show Rob and Mia in full costume and filming some scenes, so if you don't want to be spoiled, don't click.
Mia looks really cute and
it's interesting to see she has a gun tucked into her belt, so she's not going to be the kind of damsel in distress who always needs rescuing. The pony also plays some role in the film, since it was in the Utah pics as well.
I'm really looking forward to seeing this, it's a departure for both of them. Has Mia ever done a romantic comedy before?

Great! Thanks, they both look wonderful. Shown out of context I don't think they're spoiling too much. I'm sure, though, the pony will probably be an important element, the Zellner's have strong animal characters in their films.
Mia hasn't done a romantic comedy - the closest thing to that might be "The Double" (which I love), but that's set in a surreal, Kafkaesque, parallel universe - kind of a comedy/nightmare - it could only be viewed as a romantic comedy by someone on strong drugs. It's a really creative film.
Having seen, and much appreciated, The Zellner's "Kumiko, the Treasure Hunter", I would expect that "Damsel" will more than likely not be a typical, or "normal" romantic comedy - probably closer to a romantic comedy/drama, with a strong dose of the poetic (Preston Sturges meets Werner Herzog). Can't wait to see the finished film. Mia and Rob have a really good chemistry together, both on and off screen.

sort of
did a romantic comedy with Restless, which was more of a drama with a few very humorous elements like the "death" scene in her living room ("You can't just seppuku yourself to death" will always be my favorite line).
The pony in the rowboat with Mia is a stuffed animal (that's paparazzi pics for ya), but there is one adorable shot of Rob feeding the real thing posted on Daily Mail.
