vague spoilers for 'Face the Raven' below
In a way, Im glad I was unspoiled for the episode (made sure not to go near anything that would give away stuff though I did come close). It left me wondering whether something would happen in the last minutes of the episode that would help Clara out of her situation shed gotten herself into (alas, it did not which one could say was quite unpredictable for this show).
I know the character of Clara gets her fair share of hate (a lot of which I think is unwarranted), but at least she accepted her mistake she made, accepted her fate, did her best to ensure that the Doctor didnt dishonour her memory/lose himself by taking out his anger violently, then stood and faced her fate like a champ. Yes, she made a mistake but if everyone who made a mistake paid for it with their life, thered be no one left alive. Obviously her haters will say she got what she deserved, but to those not biased against her, you can see how Clara was influenced by the Doctors recklessness and self-assuredness. Shed been acting more like him this season, which he knew wasnt going to end well for her, and to say hes entirely blameless would be wrong. Having said that, I did like how angry he seemed about what happened with Clara (I just wish he hadnt left her in the street like that).
In the end, Clara might have not been a popular companion with certain people, but at least she wasnt all perfect. She made mistakes and paid the price for them, but it showed that she was quite a complex character (despite others thinking the opposite). How often has a companion had such a multi-layered relationship with the Doctor? In the first half of the two part Season 8 final, when she was tossing the Tardis keys into lava, I know that was really not a good thing she did, but I could at least understand her grief and people oftentimes lash out when they feel that way. So while her actions mightve been less than admirable, they were at least understandable (what I really liked was her realisation afterward, when what shed done had truly sunk in, she felt immediate regret which felt authentic/realistic).
Getting back to this most recent episode I truly hope we get to see her again before the end of the season. I hate the idea that the last time we see her is lying in that alley alone. She deserved better than that. She might not have been the easiest character to like for some, but she definitely had character faults and all. Ill miss Jenna immensely. I thought that she gave us some of the best 1354acting of any companion in the last 9 seasons, and she had the tough job of playing a companion that didnt have the luxury of being likeable all the time (and yet I always did, even when she was doing questionable things). I wish more viewers would come to appreciate the character of Clara and Jenna's portrayal of her.

All your words, are exactly how I feel about Jenna Coleman. I hate how much abuse she gets, but her acting and her character was fantastic. She was the closest companion able to go toe-to-toe with The Doctor. She didn't deserve the hate.
She was my favourite companion, because she didn't let him mistreat her, talked him down when he was overloading and she was arguably the most important companion: she basically brought back Gallifrey, encouraged him to take that particular Tardis and, when she grabbed his foot from being under his bed, she informed him on fear and running and never being alone.
She was irreplaceable big boots to fill.
